This Microfinance brigadier is Gina Monaldi, she is an International Business Major with her Emphasis in Spanish. She loved experiencing how the community lives and being able to make an impact. Gina also loved that the brigade was a completely different experience than the United States or traveling to another country.
Gina spent a lot of time working with the children in the community and played games and danced. She also got to teach all of the children in the community about savings accounts, loans, and interest rates. It was a lot of fun!
Gina always knew that there were communities in the world that lived their entire lives in poverty, but never understood what that meant and she realized the impact that has on those people.
What was your favorite food on the brigade? "The beans were amazing. I miss them!"
Advice for future brigaders: "Ask questions and have fun! Bring 2 pairs of shoes in case one gets wet or muddy."
What is an embarassing thing that happened on the brigade? "I sat on a donkey. Also, I danced in front of the community (it was quite embarrassing)."
