Dreama is junior Nutrition and Fitness here at Mizzou. She is from Kansas City, Missouri. However, she is a St. Louis Cardinals and Blues fan. She is a member of greek life at Mizzou, and currently serves as her chapter’s PanHellenic Delegate. Dreama has danced since she was four years old, but now likes to run. She completed her first half marathon this past April, and is currently training for a second half coming up in November. She has been a member of Global Brigades for two years now, and has traveled on two Medical/Dental Brigades. She loves kids and teaching them about healthy eating and lifestyle practices! Dreama is our current Marketing Chair for Global Brigades during this 2016-2017 school year. A fun fact about Dreama is, that she hasn’t eaten eggs in ten years, and she is deathly afraid of peacocks.
Do you have any advice for new brigaders?
“Take a journal with you and write every thing down!! Days will run together, and you will want to remember all the great, funny, weird things that happen while you are in country.”
What was a memory that you made while on the brigade?
“I made my best friends while on brigade, it can't get much better than that! There is something about being in another country with no cell phones or air conditioning that makes everyone a little more social, and lets you become best friends with your fellow brigaders.”
What was your favorite food served in country?
“The fresh fruit!!”
What was your favorite thing about working in country?
“My favorite station was the pharmacy because it was fast paced and you have to get things exactly right which works well for my perfectionist personality. In Panama this past May, I was in charla in the morning, and made friends with this little girl named Yorlenis, and in the afternoon, she followed me into the pharmacy and was helping me fill the prescriptions. It was so much fun!”
What is something funny or odd that happened to you in country?
“In Panama, there was this about 6in bug that was crawling up a bug net in our room! One of the coordinators had to come in and remove it for us, but we were all freaking out the entire time!”
"Being a member of Global Brigades and working in multiple communities in two different countries has made me more aware of what life has to offer and has made me forever grateful to the people I have met that have changed my life forever."
